Metals and chemical elements in German: der, die or das?
Most metals and chemical elements are neuter and take das. The exceptions: der Schwefel, der Phosphor, der Stahl, der Sauerstoff, der Wasserstoff, der Stickstoff, and der Kohlenstoff.
